Stranger Things 5, Squid Game 3 and Wednesday 2 are all incoming this year.
Now that we are firmly ensconced in 2025, Netflix have taken to social media to trumpet a trio of the year’s biggest shows on the streamer.

Now, there’s not actually any new footage in that promo as far as we can see, but that’s doubtless as all three shows are deep in post-production.
Stranger Things season 5
First up is the fifth and final series of the monster hit Stranger Things. The 80’s set sci-fi/horror show has been going since 2016, spawning a hit West End prequel show, but draws to a close with the upcoming run.
Filming was reported as being finished in December, with season 5 containing eight-episodes – each potentially movie-length. There’s also talk of an animated spin-off too.
We don’t have any idea or the release pattern – possibly a split season as before. The smart money suggests the latter part of the year.
Squid Game season 3
While the second run of the dystopian survival thriller dropped on Boxing Day, the third is due this year too.
Reports suggest season 3 could land either in the summer or autumn, with series director, writer, and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk saying:
“I am thrilled to see the seed that was planted in creating a new Squid Game grow and bear fruit through the end of this story. We’ll do our best to make sure we bring you yet another thrill ride.”
Wednesday season 2
Another highly anticipated returnee is Wednesday, following the teenage exploits of the Addams Family’s eldest child.
The show’s first season aired in 2022, breaking streaming records, and the show finally began filming again last May. Production shifted location from Romania to Northern Ireland and we know titbits about the new run, including the guest cast and even the title of the first episode: ‘Here We Woe Again’.
Again, production concluded in December, so we’d guess Wednesday season 2 is likely to appear later in the year. Season 1 dropped for Thanksgiving in November, although Halloween seems appropriate too.
We’ll keep you posted on this Netflix big three as 2025 plays out.
