Star Wars: Ahsoka

Star Wars: Ahsoka – production begins

Posted Filed under

The Disney+ series will follow Anakin Skywalker’s former apprentice Ahsoka Tano.

The force is strong on Disney+ at present, with Obi-Wan Kenobi landing at the end of May. Additionally, in the pipeline is the Rogue One prequel Andor and a third series of The Mandalorian too.

However, the streamer has now revealed on Twitter that it has commenced production on Ahsoka.

Spinning out of live-action appearances in both The Mandalorian’s second season and The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka will tell the continuing story of Anakin Skywalker’s former apprentice Ahsoka Tano.

A female of the Togruta species, the beloved former Jedi began as an animated character in The Clone Wars, voiced by Ashely Eckstien. For live action appearances, Rosario Dawson plays the role.

For the show, it’s been revealed that Dawson will be joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno and Ray Stevenson (Vikings). Additionally, Natasha Liu Bordizzo is bringing the Star Wars: Rebels character Sabine Wren to live action.

The other tantalising piece of casting news is the involvement of Hayden Christensen. While he’s reprising Darth Vader for Obi-Wan Kenobi, we don’t know the specifics of his involvement in this show. With Ahsoka set in post-Return of the Jedi era like The Mandalorian it could be any number of things… a force ghost? Flashbacks? Something else entirely?

While details of the show’s story and direction are scant, we expect to hear more in the coming months. As ever, we’ll keep you posted.
