Christopher Eccleston stars with Alex Kingston across three stories in Star-Crossed.
As his third series of audio adventures draw to a close, the Ninth Doctor faces his greatest challenge yet.
Christopher Eccleston’s incarnation of the Time Lord will enjoy three audio adventures with Alex Kingston’s time-travelling archaeologist Professor River Song.
River, who becomes the Doctor’s wife later in his personal time line, has yet to cross this particular face off her temporal bucket list. On screen, with her own twisted time line, we saw her meet Doctor’s Ten, Eleven and Twelve.
Since, on audio, she’s enjoyed a whole box set with the Tenth, and encountered many of the Doctor’s earlier regenerations in her own series The Diary of River Song. River also appeared in the final instalment of Big Finish Doctor Who 60th Anniversary mini-series Once and Future.

The news of her role opposite the Chris Eccleston drops on Alex Kingston’s birthday. To celebrate, Big Finish have revealed the cover, story titles and authors, and a few teasing story details…
Star-Crossed contains ‘Swipe Right’ by John Dorney, ‘Face of the Apocalypse’ by Lizzie Hopley and ‘Archipelago’ by Tim Foley. In the stories, the pair will visit a planet in thrall to a dating app, an intergalactic bank with a catastrophic glitch, and a raging maelstrom.
Joining Christopher Eccleston and Alex Kingston, the only credited cast member so far is Trevor Cooper as Captain Thaddeus Grey. Appearing on the box set cover, Cooper is well known for his lengthy television career, including roles in Star Cops and in Doctor Who‘s ‘Revelation of the Daleks‘ and ‘Robot of Sherwood‘.

Alex’s River was one such character and this was an interesting, challenging and enjoyable encounter for the Doctor too.”

“This is the first time that I’ve had an opportunity to work with Chris’s Doctor. It’s a challenge for River to step into his interpretation and navigate it. He’s got a different energy to any of the other Doctors – she has to work harder to engage him, to get through to him, which is great fun.”
