(Updated 23/09/22): Prime Video have released a full trailer for The Devil’s Hour.
With just over a month to go, the full trailer is out for Peter Capaldi’s upcoming six-part thriller. The Devil’s Hour promises to show us the Twelfth Doctor actor as never before, playing Gideon – a recluse who claims to have a “distorted relationship with time”.
“And in this delusion of yours are you a time traveller or a fortune teller?”
Dragged in by the police, Gideon seems to be asking rather than answering the questions. We also see plenty of the terrified Lucy Chambers (Jessica Raine) who he appears to be tormenting. While his incarnation of the Doctor could be spiky and intense, this performance is on another level!
With flashes of clues, including a severed hand, it sets up the riddle for the detectives – played by Nikesh Patel and Alex Ferns to unravel. The show’s wider cast also includes Phil Dunster, Cecilia Blair, Thomas Dominique, Rhiannon Harper-Rafferty, Benjamin Chivers, Talia Walker, Isaac Money and Meera Syal.
The Devil’s Hour comes to Prime Video on October 28th.

The Devil’s Hour – date confirmed for Peter Capaldi’s new horror series
Airing on Prime Video, the show also stars Nikesh Patel, Jessica Raine and Meera Syal.
Peter Capaldi’s career has been wonderfully diverse in the years since he let the Doctor go.
On the big screen, he’s played The Thinker in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and also an elderly Siegfried Sassoon for Terrance Davies in Benediction.
In telly land, roles have included the M.R. James adaptation Martin’s Close and the forthcoming thriller Criminal Record for Apple TV+. Somehow, he’s also found the time to record an album too.
However, the next thing we’re likely to see is The Devil’s Hour – Prime Video have announced that the 6-part psychological miniseries drops on October 28th.
Produced by Hartswood Films (Sherlock, Dracula), and created and written by Tom Moran, it promises to give us Peter Capaldi as we’ve never seen him before!
There’s a further Doctor Who connection too, as Steven Moffatt executive produces the show.
Here’s the synopsis for The Devil’s Hour:
Lucy Chambers (Jessica Raine) wakes up every night at 3:33am. Her mother speaks to empty chairs, her son is emotionally sterile, and her house is haunted by echoes of a life that isn’t her own. Nothing has made sense for a long time. But the answers are out there, somewhere, at the end of a trail of brutal murders. The Devil’s Hour is a psychological thriller that seeks to explain the inexplicable.
In the show, Peter Capaldi plays Gideon. He’s a recluse, driven by murderous obsession who becomes the prime target of a police manhunt.
Joining Raine and Capaldi in the cast of The Devil’s Hour are Nikesh Patel (Starstruck), Meera Syal, Alex Ferns, and Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso).
Here’s the (frankly terrifying) teaser trailer:
So, just to confirm, The Devil’s Hour lands at Prime Video on October 28th… just in time for Halloween.
