These days Gareth Roberts is an established Doctor Who screenwriter, with five episode credits to his name, as well as having penned a host of The Sarah Jane Adventures. Although he was one of the first to tackle the resurrected show in prose he had form, having contributed to the Virgin books ranges in the 1990s. Last year he novelised the lost Douglas Adams tale ‘Shada’ for BBC Books and is soon to follow up with ‘City of Death’.

‘Doctor Who’: ‘Night of the Whisper’ (‘Destiny of the Doctor’ 9) audiobook review

‘Night of the Whisper’ is a rare thing indeed, a non-televised adventure for the Ninth Doctor.

Other than the half a dozen novels and handful of comic strip appearances that appeared at the time, Christopher Eccleston’s short stint as the Time Lord has not seen much expansion. AudioGO tend to make audio adventures for the incumbent Doctor and Big Finish’ license precludes anything pre-2005.
