The first trailer has been unveiled for Doctor Who star Karen Gillan’s new horror movie Oculus, from the producer of Paranormal Activity and Insidious.
From the pen of Jed Mercurio (Bodies), Line of Duty takes place inside the complex, high-stakes world of a police internal investigation. First broadcast in mid-2012, this highly successful drama is finally coming to DVD ahead of its upcoming second series.
David Lavery’s book was originally intended to chart Joss Whedon’s successful television career and then ponder over his failure to translate it into big screen success. Fortunately, with his abortive Wonder Woman project now career footnote, it revels in the triumphant box office success of Marvel’s The Avengers.
The final entry of this anniversary collection is a reprint of a larger, more mature story. First published in 2012, the novel pits the Eleventh Doctor, Amy and Rory against the Ice Warriors and predates Series 7’s ‘Cold War’.

In the early years of Doctor Who, companions often came aboard the TARDIS because they had nowhere else to go. Orphans and stowaways joined the Time Lord on his adventures, along with less reluctant fellow travellers.
The first instalment of this two-part finale left us with Princess Ariadne sentenced to a traitor’s death; her fate sealed after the revelation that she aided Jason’s escape from the palace in the aftermath of his failed assassination attempt on Queen Pasiphae.
With the werewolf shenanigans of ‘Hunger Pangs’ past, and not even referenced, the opening part of Atlantis’s Christmas-straddling finale was rooted in earlier events. Returning in a dream that saw Hercules dead, Jason was reminded of the fateful bargain he struck with Pasiphae’s vengeful sister, the witch Circe. It was a creepy and effective start to a storyline full of promise.
BBC One’s new adventure series Atlantis continues this weekend with ‘Touched by the Gods – Part One’ and Jason is reminded of his promise to Circe and her grim warning should he fail to honour their pact.
With a two-part finale on the horizon, this week’s Atlantis felt very much like a one-shot, although it did reacquaint us with the city’s regal characters who have been out of the story for a while.
