Here’s a look at what the main players of Torchwood have been up to since leaving the confines of the hub…
Burn Gorman
Formerly Torchwood Three’s resident doctor Owen Harper, Burn Gorman has been extremely busy since leaving the show in 2008, with a varied career spanning TV, film and theatre.
Appearing in recurring roles in such US TV shows as Revenge, Forever and Game of Thrones, Burn has been something of a regular fixture in Hollywood, turning up as supporting characters in the likes of Red Lights, The Dark Knight Rises and Pacific Rim. He also played Bill Sikes in the West End revival of Oliver! in 2011.
This year he will be seen in Guillermo Del Toro’s gothic drama Crimson Peak and, next year, he will appear in western In a Valley of Violence, opposite a certain Karen Gillan.
Naoko Mori
Following on from playing Toshiko Sato, the team’s tech expert, Naoko Mori has appeared in multiple television roles, in both the US and the UK.
She was cast as Yoko Ono in 2010’s TV biopic Lennon Naked, which reunited her with old Doctor Who co-star Christopher Eccleston as John Lennon. Over the years she has had guest parts in Midsomer Murders, Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Private Practise and this year’s hit sci-fi drama Humans.
In 2011, she returned to her long-running role of Sarah in comedy series Absolutely Fabulous, a character she has been playing since the show began in 1992.
Her latest project is disaster movie Everest which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Keira Knightley and is in cinemas now.
Mekhi Phifer
Most famous for his long-standing role as Dr Gregory Pratt on medical drama E.R., Mekhi Phifer was cast as CIA agent-cum-Torchwood member Rex Matheson in Miracle Day.
Since then he has appeared in numerous US TV shows such as White Collar, Psych and House of Lies as well as landing the title part in 2013 action film The Suspect.
His most prominent post-Miracle Day role is his part as Max in the Divergent movie series.
