On actress Yasmin Finney’s birthday, the official Doctor Who social media accounts shared, along with a new photo, new information about Rose, Finney’s character who is to be introduced in the Doctor Who 60th anniversary special The Star Beast.

“Welcome to the #DoctorWho family, Rose Noble 🌹➕🔷

Wishing a very happy birthday to Yasmin Finney, whose character Rose is the daughter of companion Donna Noble (played by Catherine Tate) and Shaun Temple (Karl Collins).”

As fans reasonably expected based on filming reports and the teaser trailers for the specials, Rose is Donna and Shaun’s daughter. We now know that Rose Noble was given her mother’s surname.

“When we last saw Donna, the Doctor had to wipe her memory. So the question is, what happens when Rose meets one of her mum’s oldest friends? It is a mystery for now, but what we do know is that just like her mother, Rose stumbles across something alien, and from that point her seemingly ordinary family is never quite the same…”

Donna’s old friend is, of course, the Doctor, now the Fourteenth Doctor played by David Tennant, who has revisited the Tenth Doctor’s face and form.

From filming reports and the teaser trailers, it seems Rose meets the Doctor while out shopping with her mother at Camden Market in London where both Rose and the Doctor observe “a spaceship in trouble.”

In other trailer scenes, Rose encounters a crashed spaceship and befriends its occupant, an alien known from Doctor Who comics as a Meep.

What happens with Donna’s wiped memory remains unknown but the Doctor and Donna happily reunite for more adventures.

Doctor Who will return in November 2023 with three 60th anniversary specials starring David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as companion Donna Noble titled The Star Beast, Wild Blue Yonder and The Giggle.

Ncuti Gatwa will star in his first full Doctor Who episode as the Fifteenth Doctor in the Doctor Who Christmas special alongside Millie Gibson as companion Ruby Sunday in December 2023.

A new 8-episode Doctor Who series starring Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor and Millie Gibson as Ruby will debut in Spring of 2024.
